ROAD NOT TAKEN - FOLK BAND FROM NORTH BRISTOL

Road Not Taken are a five-piece folk band made up of singer Anita Dobson, singer and guitarist Ant Miles, fiddler Claire Hamlen, multi-instrumentalist Joe Hamlen and slide guitarist and harmonica player Joe Brydon.

Based near Bristol, the band came together through Downend Folk Club, and soon found themselves supporting India Electric Co and headlining a local showcase event at the club.

Appearances at Bristol Folk Festival and The Great Big Almonry Folk Weekend followed, and the response was so good that something which started life as a hobby began to grow, and the band hatched plans for an EP, and 'Back Into Storyland' was released in Spring 2016.

Further support slots for some great artists were next, with the band opening for BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-nominated singer Ange Hardy & The Bare Foot Band and rising-star Kelly Oliver, as well as playing at various local events, while 2016 brought support slots for the likes of Lady Maisery and Alex Cumming & Nicola Beazley as well as headline events at some great local venues.

In 2017 Road Not Taken further enhanced their growing reputation with an appearance at Oxford Folk Week as the band began to venture outside of the Bristol area more, and a first full-length album is only a matter of time.

Road Not Taken play a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs, in their unique, melancholic style.
